Open Volunteer Day at the Charles River Conservancy

When: Saturday, July 19 from 9:00 AM until 12:00 PM

Where: 4 Brattle Street, Cambridge, MA 02138

 

Join the Charles River Conservancy for their open volunteer day. Help them work on the upkeep and preservation of the river and trails surrounding the Charles. Pitch in to help keep the river beautiful! The Charles River Conservancy’s volunteers are engaged year-round, participating in activities including planting daffodil bulbs, painting park benches, removing invasive species, trimming brush, and trash cleanup. Merrimack Valley Sandbox Summit

When: Monday June 9th and Tuesday June 10th

Time: 8 am - 5 pm (both days)

Join the Merrimack Valley Sandbox for their Sandbox Summit event. Attendees will be able to take part in engaging panel discussions that focus on creating ecosystems that promote entrepreneurship in and around their communities. There will also be some great networking opportunities with leading business professionals and economic development officials. Some of the keynote speakers at the event include Massachusetts Governor, Deval Patrick, Desh Deshpande, Serial Entrepreneuri and Founder of Deshpande Foundation, John Harthorne, Founder and CEO of MassChallenge, Poonam Ahluwalia, Executive Director of YouthTrade and Yes Campaign. Help Landscape a Women's Transitional Home

When: Saturday, June 28

Time: 10 AM to 3 PM

Where: Valentine Transitional Home; 9 Valentine St, Roxbury, MA 02119

This event will involve revamping the exterior landscaping of the women’s transitional home. The women going through the program thoroughly enjoy spending time outside and utilizing their outdoor space, but revamping is necessary for the women to fully enjoy the space. Volunteer duties include, laying down sod, trimming the hedges out front, planting of flowers, putting up a new fence, painting a small porch. To sign up for this event, please click here

Summer Family Fun Day

When: Saturday, June 28th

Time: 9 AM – 2 PM

Where: Peabody School, 70 Rindge Ave, Cambridge MA 02140

 

Twice a year in the winter and summer, the Center for Families hosts Family Fun Days. These are family-friendly events that draw anywhere from 200-500 families. The event includes arts & crafts, face painting, an obstacle course, moon bounces, book give-aways, basketball, drums, and a performance. Last summer there was an African drummer and this past winter there was a puppet show.

Volunteers will be needed for a variety of tasks including, helping at the registration table, assisting staff at the arts table, face paint, supervising activities, helping with set-up, serving lunch, assisting the performer, and helping with clean up. Seeking Volunteers for Boston Nonprofit Leadership Series

When: Thursday, June 19th from 7:30 am until Noon

The Center for Nonprofit Success is seeking volunteers for its upcoming leadership series in Boston titled “Social Media: Tips and Tools for Using Social Media to Build Support for Your Mission”. They are seeking 7-8 volunteers for the event to help greet and register participants when they arrive. Other volunteer tasks include hosting the speakers at the event, helping with AV connections, introducing them at the start of sessions. Potential volunteers should be friendly, helpful, interested in the nonprofit sector, and have a heart to serve the event and those attending. Volunteers will be able to meet other nonprofit leaders. Volunteers Needed for Multicultural/Art Festival

When: Saturday June 7th 10AM – 5 PM

Where: Copley Square: Boylston & Dartmouth Streets in Boston

 

The Cultural Survival Bazaar is an International Program working to support the livelihood of Indigenous artisans, their communities, fair trade, and other nonprofit programs worldwide. This program will host 5 weekend events in New England featuring Indigenous artisans, performer, and thousands of handmade products for sale. They are seeking volunteers to help at the events. Tasks include helping set up, managing the entrances and exits, canvassing, polling customers, helping at some of the booths, helping break down and cleaning up the event, and many other tasks. Keany Park Fun Day

Come join the Lynn Youth Health Alliance Youth Council on Sunday, June 8 for their Keany Park Fun Day. This event will take place at Keany Park located on Memorial Ave in Lynn (behind Lynn English High School). Join the Youth Council to learn more about being physically active and eating healthy. There will be activities, games, free refreshments, a free Zumba lesson, and free prizes to be raffled off. The event is catered towards families with young children (3-10) but all are welcome.

The Youth Council will host a Keany Park clean up from 10 am until Noon and the fun-filled afternoon will begin shortly after that. If you are interested in helping during the park clean up, contact Amanda Rzepkowski at arzepkowski@socialcapitalinc.org for more information. 

Field Day For Peace

Join the Boston Project Ministries for their Field Day For Peace Event taking place on Saturday, May 24 from 1-6 pm at Walsh Park in Dorchester (967 Washington Street). This stand up for peace event is to encourage youth to be active and promote peace within their Dorchester neighborhoods. Join the Talbot-Norfolk Triangle Youth Council (TNT Youth Council) for an afternoon of sports and activities including, basketball, flag football, dodgeball, and other active activities. There will be prizes for every sport, free food, and a chance to meet the TNT Youth Council who put this event together!
