2010 Social Capitalist Luncheon Honorees
 |
We would lilke to thank everyone who came to the 2010 SCI Social Capitalist Luncheon on Wednesday, April 7th.
With your support, the event was a tremendous success! With 330
guests, we raised over $54,000 to support SCI's efforts to develop
social capitalists. The funds raised included a very generous response
of over $14,000 to the live ask made to support the SCI Youth Councils.
While
the economy may have improved a bit since the 2009 Luncheon, it clearly
does not explain a jump in participation and fundraising of over 40%. Rather, it's a testament to having a great group of honorees with a lot
of fans and your appreciation for the important role Social Capitalists
can play in addressing the tough problems we face.
Thank you,
thank you! We had a great team of people that made the event a
success. Our Board of Directors, led by Chair Alberto Calvo, is
incredibly supportive, and you got a small sampling at the event of the
wonderful service the SCI AmeriCorps members provide local communities
every day. I was also very pleased to have many SCI AmeriCorps alumni
return to volunteer for the day along with volunteers from City Year to
help make the event a success. Speaking of volunteers, thanks to all of
you who served on our host
committee.
There are a few people that I'd like to single out
for their contributions to the event. Special thanks to:
· All of our event
sponsors and special thanks to presenting sponsor Compare
Supermarkets.
· Karen Brooks and Peter Domanico for
producing the Community Social Capitalist Video.
· Andrew
Gibson for managing the A/V and making many other invaluable
contributions along the way.
· GayLynne Samsonoff for her
efforts on the program book.
· Chris Kisiel of Tasher Studios for the wonderful
photography.
· Bob Giannino-Racine, Laura Santel, Meg
Gambale, Rick Metters, Candace Lun Plotkin and Robert Lewis Jr. for
their roles in the program.
Finally, special thanks to Karen
Rice for her tireless efforts in coordinating the event-and doing a
great job keeping up with 40%+ more people than last year!
