Governor Signs Commonwealth Corps Bill

It’s been a big month for civic engagement in Massachusetts, and SCI is right in the thick of this exciting time. I just returned from the Boston Food Bank, where Governor Patrick signed the Commonwealth Corps into law. This new state service program will engage hundreds and eventually thousands of Massachusetts residents in meeting community needs. And as noted in this Boston Globe editorial, SCI is well-positioned to participate in this new initiative. This capped off a great month that also included the resounding success of the Mass. Civic Engagement Summit, attended by over 700 people on Nov. 16.
