SCI AmeriCorps to Partner with New Host Sites

"SCI to Partner with New Host Sites," by Katie Russo, The SCI Daily News

With the start of a new year, SCI AmeriCorps has extended their programming to reach some new locations across Eastern Massachusetts. New AmeriCorps host sites include the East Boston Neighborhood Health Center, East Boston Social Center, Everyday Boston, Maverick Landing Community Services and United Way of New Bedford. They are currently recruiting for January to June positions where members serve full time and complete 900 hours of service over the course of six months.

Each new host site is aligned with SCI’s mission to strengthen communities by connecting diverse individuals and organizations through civic engagement initiatives. The East Boston Neighborhood Health Center is in search of two SCI AmeriCorps members to serve as Youth Leadership Coordinator's, where they will assist in providing easily accessible, affordable, appropriate, high-quality, personalized, coordinated primary care, for all who live and work in East Boston and the surrounding communities.

The East Boston Social Center’s programming is designed to meet people’s educational, social and recreational needs and to build community while strengthening families. They are recruiting for a full time AmeriCorps member to serve as Youth Leadership Coordinator at their site.

Everyday Boston is an all-volunteer, grassroots organization that encourages curiosity and connection across the city though seeking out, listening to, and sharing the stories of people you might not otherwise know- and teaching or helping others to do the same. They are recruiting a Youth Leadership Coordinator to assist them with their programming.

Maverick Landing Community Services (MLCS) is a multi-service organization with a primary focus on helping children, youth, and adults to build 21st-century skills. Their vision is to build and nurture a vibrant East Boston community where people love to live and where every person has opportunities to succeed. They are seeking an SCI AmeriCorps member to serve as a Volunteer Outreach Coordinator.
