Woburn Unites with a Vigil

Past Woburn Vigil

Woburn Unites: A vigil to show community support for our police officers and to offer hopes and prayers for a more just and peaceful world. The Woburn Unites Vigil will be held on Thursday 6-7pm, July 21, on Woburn Common.

From Orlando to Baton Rouge to Dallas, our nation has seen a disturbing amount of violence recently. The Woburn Unites Vigil represents an opportunity for us to come together to support our local police and to send a message that we are a welcoming community.

This is a nonpartisan event. While there certainly needs to be dialogue as to what policy steps ought to be taken to reduce violence and improve the societal conditions that breed it, the point of this event is to show our community’s unity around the need to support our police and to welcome and respect ALL members of the Woburn community.

The event is being planned by Social Capital Inc. (SCI) in partnership with the City of Woburn and other groups that would like to lend their support to the event and its goals. We invite the diverse array of houses of worship and community groups that make Woburn strong to join us in making the event a success.

Organizations wishing to join as partners for the event are asked to simply commit to spreading word about the event with their networks and having some group leaders and/or members attend. Please email dcrowley@socialcapitalinc.org by Tuesday, July 19, to have your organization listed as a Woburn Unites vigil partner.

There will be a planning meeting for the event Thursday, July 14, 4:30 p.m. in Mayor Galvin’s office, 2nd Floor, Woburn City Hall. Partners and potential partners are invited to attend.
