SCI Luncheon a Great Success
Thank you for coming to the first annual SCI Social Capitalist Luncheon! It truly was a beautiful day, having the opportunity to recognize such wonderful people with our first SCI Idealist Award and Community Social Capitalist presentations before a full house of nearly 200 supporters. With your help and support, I'm pleased to report that we have raised over $30,000 that will help us continue weaving the social fabric of local communities. After hearing the powerful testimonials from our AmeriCorps members, I know you have an appreciation for the importance of this work.We were pleased by the generous response to the appeal made at the luncheon, which resulted in over $3,000 in additional donations that will be matched through our challenge grant (we plan to raise the balance of that challenge in the coming weeks!).
And we have a winner in our Celtics basketball drawing... Rick Metters, Executive Director of the Boys & Girls Club of Woburn. Rick was one of my first community partners when we started SCI six years ago, and currently hosts two SCI AmeriCorps members. I appreciate that Rick, as someone very familiar with our work, was one of our many generous donors at the event. As Dain Perry said, expanding our circle of friends was a major objective of this event. I look forward to being in touch with you soon about ways you might join us in our effort to bring people together to strengthen our communities. Meanwhile, I'd love to hear from you about any feedback you have about the event and ideas you might have for SCI-how you might get involved, people we should talk to, or anything else that the event sparked for you.
Thank you once again for your participation in the inaugural Social Capitalist Luncheon!
