The Boston Greenway

On Saturday, May 3 the Rose Kennedy Greenway Conservancy is looking for volunteers to help with a horticulture project. This volunteer opportunity will take place from 9 am until 12 pm. Specific assignments will vary based on the park needs that day, but will include gardening tasks such as pruning, mulching, raking, planting, and/or weeding. 

The Conservancy loves engaging volunteers in their space, teaching more about organic landscaping management practices and accomplishing a lot of work with helping hands. The only requirements are volunteers must at least be 19 years old and all volunteers must sign a waiver. Volunteer will meet on the Greenway located between Atlantic Avenue and Purchase Street in Boston.

Join Groundwork Lawrence Green Team, Comcast, and the City of Lawrence Mayor's Health Task Force and many more partners to clean up and complete beautification projects across Lawrence. Earth Day brings together hundreds of volunteers dedicated to making a positive impact on the community by planting trees, transforming vacant lots, building community gardens, and generally cleaning up the city. 

This event will take place on Saturday, April 26th from 8 am until 1 pm at the Campagnone North Common (across from City Hall) located at 200 Common Street in Lawrence. Stand Against Racism Event with the Mattapan Youth Council

Seeking Performers and Participants for WorldFest

SCI Woburn and the YMCA International Learning Center are seeking participants to share their culture at our 4th Annual WorldFest celebration. WorldFest is scheduled to take place on Sunday, May 18, 2014 from 2-5 pm at the Woburn Public Library Lawn located at 45 Pleasant Street in Woburn. WorldFest is a great opportunity for members of the Greater Boston community to share their culture with others.

We are looking for participants who would like to share their culture through dance, song, food, art, and cultural activities.

Chelsea Chase 5K

On Sunday, May 10th the Jordan Boys & Girls Club will host Chelsea Chase 5K. This event will take place at the Market Basket Plaza located at 170 Everett Avenue in Chelsea beginning at 10 AM. There will be a variety of volunteer roles, from helping at the registration table to encouraging participants throughout the race. All proceeds from this race will help benefit both the Jordan Boys & Girls Club and the Chelsea Police Relief Association.

Kite and Bike Festival

Come fly a kite at Franklin Park on Saturday, May 17th from 11 am until 4 pm! Join Franklin Park Coalition for their fourth annual historic family and community kite festival in Franklin Park. If you do not have your own kite, kites will be available for purchase. There will also be bikes for free rental for attendees to take a tour of the park on the paved paths around the stadium and golf course. It is encouraged to bring a picnic lunch or enjoy fare from one of the local food trucks. Enjoy spring by flying a kite or taking a ride around Franklin Park. 

This event will take place at the Playstead Ballfield located at 450 Walnut Ave, Boston, MA 02130. This event is co-sponsored by Franklin Park Coalition, Discover Roxbury, Boston Bikes, and Boston Parks and Recreation Department. 

Battle of Bunker Hill Road Race

The Charlestown Boys & Girls Club will be hosting a Bunker Hill Road Race. This road race will take place at the Charlestown Boys & Girls Club located at 60 High Street in Charlestown on Sunday, June 15th. Volunteers would be needed at 9:15 am. Some of the volunteer roles are course monitors, enthusiastic fans, water stop facilitators, race day registration, greeters, and Friday number pick up.

Spring Planting at Franklin Park

On Saturday, April 26 Franklin Park Coalition will host a spring planting event. Join Franklin Park Coalition to help plant young trees and clear invasive species in the woodlands of Franklin Park. This event will take place from 10 am until Noon. Volunteers should wear old clothes and bring work gloves if they have their own. Gloves can be provided if volunteers do not have their own. Volunteers will meet at the Valley Gates Parking Lot located midway along Franklin Park Road in Dorchester.

Lynn Park Clean Up

Want to help make Lynn's parks a clean and safe place this spring? Our SCI AmeriCorps member, Amanda is in need of groups to commit to cleaning one of the 25 parks or playgrounds in the City of Lynn. Clean up dates are flexible and can be scheduled based on the group's availability. Clean-ups are scheduled for April-June and September-October. Clean up supplies will be provided.
