SCI is mentioned in this Harvard Graduate School of Education article for collaborative efforts with the Salem schools in creating an online guide of all the youth-focused programs and organizations in Salem. Based on individual student plans, the guide is connecting families to local resources that can provide their children with the supports they're missing.

Become a Stand & Deliver Mentor

Stand and Deliver MCAS Mentoring is a one-on-one mentoring program founded to help students in Lawrence, Massachusetts pass the Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment System (MCAS) Exam required for high school graduation in the state. Over the past 9 years, over 800 people have been Stand and Deliver mentors and over 95% of them never taught school or been a part of a formal mentoring program. 

Benefits of Becoming a Stand & Deliver Mentor

  • Help a deserving student pass the MCAS Exam and making a high school diploma possible.
  • Making a new, in some cases lifelong friend.
  • Learn about a new culture.
  • Playing a part in the emergence of New Lawrence.

Spanish Speakers for Parent Teacher Conference

Volunteers Needed for Education Program

Bridget Navarro is an alum of MIT. She is starting an after school program for middle and high school students to help improve their problem solving and digital literacy skills through technology. She is looking for volunteers ages 19 to late 20's, preferably current or former college students. These volunteers will help design mini research projects in various subjects for the students. Volunteers must be proficient in Microsoft Excel. The time commitment for this volunteer opporunity is a minimum of 2 hours per week. The pilot program is set to take place in November at Fenway High School located at 174 Ipswich Street in Boston, MA, 02215.

The GLBTQ Domestic Violence Project needs your help!

The GLBTQ Domestic Violence Project assists and supports victims and survivors of domestic violence, focusing on the GLBTQ community, to bring about responsive public policy, and to increase access to culturally competent services.

Volunteers are needed to help with:

  • Tabling at events
  • Marching at pride events
  • Staffing a victim hotline
