SCI Presents the Holiday House Tour!

SCI Woburn is proud to present our bi-annual Holiday House Tour!  The Tour takes place on Sunday December 7th from 2:00PM-5:00PM. Great raffle prizes have generously been donated from local business and are able to be won at each of the homes on the Tour. Seven great houses have already been placed on the Tour. The two starting locations are both historically and generally important to the Woburn community.  read more »

14th Annual Festival on the Common

The 14th Annual Festival On The Common will be held Saturday, Nov. 29, 3 to 7 p.m. in Woburn.  The festival features live continuous holiday music performances from the steps of City Hall, free singing hayrides on horse-drawn wagons, ice sculpting demonstrations, roaming carolers, food courts, and the Woburn Fire Department Smoke Safety House. Mission of Deeds Fundraiser at St. Mary's

On Sunday, Nov. 23, the Winchester High School Symphony will be joined by the 80-voice Scituate High School Chorus for a performance of one of choral literature’s most well-known masterworks, Schubert’s Mass in G. The performance will take place at St. Mary’s Church, 155 Washington St., Winchester, at 3 P.M.  The event is a fundraiser for the Mission of Deeds, a not-for-profit agency that provides furniture and other essential household items to those in need throughout Middlesex and Essex Counties.  read more »

Local Nature Photographer Showcases the "Mirror of the Spirit"

An exhibit of Woburn native and nature photographer Geraldine E. Kehoe's work will be presented at the Aberjona River Gallery located in the Aberjona Nursing Center at 184 Swanton Street, Winchester from November 23 through January 8th. The public is invited to a reception for the artist from 3-5pm, November 23. This will be an exciting opportunity to witness breathtaking photographs of local wilderness areas. Want to learn more fascinating histories and mysteries of Woburn?  This Friday, November 14th at the New Horizons building on 21 Warren Ave, local author Marie Coady will be having a reading from  and signing copies of her new book, "Woburn: Hidden Tales of a Tannery Town". This event is a great opportunity to learn more about local history and share knowledge and ideas with other members of the community. Woburn Senior Center Hosts "Indian Lunch"

The Woburn Senior Center, located on 144 School Street, will host an “Indian Lunch” on Friday, November 7th at 11AM.  Minuteman Senior Services will sponsor this delicious lunch featuring lentil and vegetable dishes, yogurt, rice, bread and rice pudding (dal, sabji, raita, rice, nan and kheer).  The food is catered by Bollywood Café, located in Lexington.  A $3 donation goes toward programs put forth by Minuteman Senior Services.  Reservations are required.&nb  read more »

Friends Helping Seniors Holiday Fair and Lunch

The Woburn Senior Center, located on 144 School Street, will offer the annual “Friends Helping Seniors Holiday Fair and Lunch” on Saturday, November 1st from 9am to 2pm.  The fair will include a unique “White Elephant” room featuring all sorts of treasures.  Toys and games for the children will be offered as well as handmade crafts.  Holiday Items will be available as well as plants, jewelry, books, clothing and a bake sale.  Raffles will include gift baskets, handmade afghans and a thanksgiving basket.  The onsite “Golden Gift Shop” will be open for special Saturday hours.  All proceeds will benefit “Friends Helping Seniors”.   read more »

Showing of "Iraq: The Lost Generation"

Join Primary Source and award-winning filmmaker Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy in Waltham on November 3 for a timely look at one of the untold consequences of the Iraq war.  The event will feature a screening of Obaid-Chinoy's newest documentary, Iraq: The Lost Generation, which examines the plight of the more than four million Iraqis that have been driven from their home as a result of the war and sectarian bloodshed. She will be available after the film to answer questions and to discuss her own journey as a documentarian.  A limited number of spaces are also available at a reception with the filmmaker after the screening - register now to reserve your seat! Have a Spooky Time at the Woburn Public Library

The Children’s Room of the Woburn Public Library will sponsor a spooky (and slightly crazy) Halloween Party featuring children’s author Carolyn Crimi, author of “Boris and Bella,” and the newly published “Where’s My Mummy?”   Students in elementary grades K-5 are invited to listen to her tales, try their hand at being mummies, doing some monster dancing, and enjoying creepy treats afterwards.  The program will be held on Thursday, Oct. 30,  3:30—4:30 pm, in the first floor Study Hall.  read more »

It's time once again for the Woburn Host Lions annual Halloween Parade here in Woburn!  The festivities will kick off Sunday, Oct. 26th at 1 PM., beginning at the intersection (rotary) of Rt. 38 and I-95 by the Woburn Cinema/Holiday Inn Select, exit 35 off of I-95 heading south on Rt. 38, Main Street Woburn, traveling for 2.2 miles to the Woburn/Winchester Line.  Bring your family and friends to enjoy this fantastic and fun event! Children's Hospital Boston Blood Drive

October Programs at Fresh Pond Reservation: Purple Loosestrife Biocontrol Monitoring

Help us count and measure the loosestrife plants in the Little Fresh Pond wetland where loosestrife-eating beetles were released in 2007. We will compare the new data with data that was collected a year ago to determine whether the beetle population has increased. We will send the results to you and to the State’s database.  read more »
